Detoxing food

As I looked around for cleansing recipes, I found a lot of sites that mentioned ‘detoxing food’ that helps detox your system.  Most lists include kale, cauliflower, swiss chard, broccoli, kelp, garlic, ginger, beets, artichoke, cabbage, carrots, fresh fruits and unsweetened dried fruits.

This site lists 5 natural detox drinks.  A lot of ‘detox drink’ recipes seem to include maple syrup.  I wonder why.

Anyway, based of the list, I decided to make a soup.  Sweet potatoes and carrots as sweetener, then kale, garlic and celery in a large pot and cook long enough to cook sweet potatoes.  Then I process in a food processor.  This is a very thick soup which I was going to eat for the first 2 days, but I made another one once I ran out of it.

I also bought peaches, grapefruits and mango.

Another thing I saw on a lot of websites are lemon water.  Drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning seems to be good.  Why?  I found a list of benefits on  Boost immune system, balances pH, helps with weight loss, aids digestion, etc.  Sounds good!

One website even claims drinking lemon water as soon as you wake up can increases metabolic level, so it help lose weight in a short term.

Well, it sounds like there are lots of benefits in drinking lemon water in the morning, so I have been drinking it every morning for a week.
